Pumpkin Bread, baking day recipe

Those of who follow me on Facebook, know I do a lot of baking and that about once a month I have Baking Day. My best friend and I get together, open a bottle (or two) of wine and bake. Sometimes we try new recipes, sometimes we make favorites. The pumpkin bread recipe below is a long standing favorite of mine and perfect for this time of year.

Pumpkin Bread

Grease and flour 2 bread loaf pans.
Preheat oven to 350.

Dry ingredients:

  • 31/3 cup flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 3/4 teaspoon ground cloves

Wet ingredients:
  • 2 cups canned pumpkin
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 4 eggs
Place dry ingredients into medium bowl, blend and set aside.
Place wet ingredients into large bowl and blend well.
Gradually add dry ingredients, beating until smooth.
Place in pans and bake for about 50 minutes. Done when toothpick comes out clean.

Top with cream cheese frosting or powdered sugar if preferred.
