Lists Ahoy

For a while now, I've been skimming over information about bestseller lists including how these lists are put together and what they mean. But I'm starting to catch on to the idea that I might actually need to know this stuff, so I better stop skimming and start reading. Why? Even though Everglades Wildfire was released June 27, 2007 it remains on Amazon's Hot New Release Bestseller list. It's been as high as 4 and as low as 21. What do I know about this list? Only what it says on the page, "The bestselling new & future releases in Erotica. Updated hourly." Hourly. A person can waste a lot of time looking at that page every hour. As I write this post, Everglades is #5. Here's the link- who knows where it'll be when you hit it. # 7? # 18? Will it have dropped off? http://www.amazon.com/gp/new-releases/books/227073011 Everglades was also on the general Bestsellers list for a minute. It isn't on there as I write this, but trust ...

New Jersey Here I Come, Conference

I’ll be off to New Jersey next month for the New Jersey Romance Writers annual Put Your Heart in a Book Conference. I haven’t been to this conference before, but I’ve heard great things about it, so I’m excited. (!) I’ve been to LoTs of conferences. Maybe more than I want to admit. But over the years I’ve learned a few things. Know what to expect . Some excitement, some disappointment. No big deal. Rome wasn’t built in a day. Ditto a writing career. Know what not to expect . See above. Know what you’ll remember. Having an awesome time catching up with friends, meeting new people all over the place, and generally have a fast-forward good time. Know what you won’t . When someone gives you a business card, write something on the back to remind yourself who/what/when/why. You think you’ll remember what you were talking about with Ms. Lunch Companion, but... Know something about the place before you arrive . That way you’ ll be able to do at least one non-writing related thing,...

OK. I admit it. I missed Britney Spears on the MTV Awards show Sunay night...so I went and looked the clip up on the Inet. I'm not putting the link here because: A) You've already seen it. or B) You have the good sense to just say no. Either way, you're one step ahead of me. But tomorrow is another day. For me. And Brit.

No Labor This Labor Day

I spent the weekend driving, visiting with family and watching movies. We went to see Halloween - director Rob Zombie. I'd gone thinking it would be a psychological thing about how MM got to be so evil. It was sort of about that. But mostly it was about how teenagers should not have sex, drink, or do drugs because if they do, a crazy man will hunt them down and stab them. LOL . Go see it if you liked the original . If not, pass.
